Bubonic plague outbreak in China is ‘well managed,’ WHO says

The hits keep coming with 2020 but thankfully, the apparent outbreak of bubonic plague that has hit China is not of dire concern, according to the World Health Organization. “We are monitoring the outbreaks in China, we are watching that closely and in partnership with the Chinese authorities and Mongolian authorities,” Margaret Harris, a spokeswoman for the public health agency said Tuesday during a United Nations press briefing, Al-Jazeera reports. Harris noted that, “Bubonic plague has been with us and is always with us, for centuries,” and the WHO is not currently “considering it high-risk.”
