Bangladesh TV Channels start getting feed from indigenous Bangabandhu Satellite BS-1

They will now be using the services of five transponders of BS-1 for their commercial transmission. A local company has also rented six transponders on BS-1 to provide D2H services.

The service was inaugurated by the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka today.  

The agreement with the private channels for their commercial transmission using the feed of Bangabandhu Sattelite-1 was handed over to the Prime Minister 
Hasina on this occasion.

Local TV Channels in Bangladesh have been receiving feed from AsiaSat satellite till now.

The BS-1 satellite was launched in 2018 by the French manufacturer Thales Alenia Space from Florida in the US at a cost of Taka 2765 crore.

BS-I would cover the SAARC countries and Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkestan and a part of Kazakhstan.
