In an unusual scenario, police have registered a case against an unidentified woman for stealing a gold chain from a six-year-old girl. The NRI police are now in search of the unidentified woman, who stole the Rs 8000 chain from the girl at a shopping mall in Nerul.
According to Hindustan Times, the incident took place on Sunday evening, when a resident of sector 16 in Kopar Khairane, Shridhar Nair (37) had been to the mall with his wife and daughter. Nair and his wife were at cash counter to pay bills, and their daughter was standing few metres away from them, that is when the woman approached the girl.
“That was when the woman approached the girl and told her that she was her mother’s friend. She then told the girl that it’s not good to wear a gold chain in a mall. She removed the chain from her neck and said she would give it to her mother. The girl believed the woman who took only four minutes to take the chain off and walked away from the spot. The value of the chain would be around Rs 8,000,” sub-inspector of NRI police station told the leading daily. Later, the girl told the couple about the incident, and then they approached the police. The cops are investigating the CCTV footage of the mall. And the police are on the lookout for the woman.
