The Dongri police have arrested a Mazgaon-based builder for cheating 10 homebuyers of Rs 1.75 crore on the pretext of selling them new flats. The builder has been identified as 40-year-old Rizwan Mir Nazeer, who owns a company named Al-Neha Builder and Developers.
According to Hindustan Times, the incident came to light when Mohammed Gaziyani lodged a complaint against the builder. Gaziyani paid Rs 45 lakh to Nazeer in 2015. Nazeer, who is the landlord of Rehmani Manzil near Baba Dargah in Dongri was redeveloping the property, and took money from Gaziyani on the pretext of selling him a 500 square feet apartment. They both later signed an agreement and Gaziyani received receipts for the same. But when the building was ready in 2016, Nazeer sold the flats to other buyers.
Later, when Gaziyani confronted Nazeer, he promised to give him flat in his other project Goodluck Mansion, and took an additional Rs 1 lakh from him. But, later Nazeer cut all communication with Gaziyani. Gaziyani later found that Nazeer has cheated other people on the pretext of selling them flats too. The Dongri police, during investigation, found that between 2012 and 2017 Nazeer had cheated 9 other people of Rs 1.75 crore on the pretext of selling them flats. The police have registered a case under sections 420 and 34 of the IPC. And later they arrested Nazeer. Nazeer’s wife and other two are also wanted in this case.
